The roots of Gauchezco begin in a historic and legendary vineyard, founded in 1881 by the Governor of Mendoza Tiburcio Benegas in Barrancas – Maipú. On this site, the first grapes of premium quality were planted in Argentina.
Production is focused in the principle regions of Argentina: Maipu and the Uco Valley in Mendoza Povince & Cafayate in Salta Province.
The long desired dream of the Anesi family came true when they finally purchased their ideal vineyard in the legendary site that is now the Gauchezco Vineyard. With fierce dedication, they continue to make this glorious historic property synonymous with world class wine. Eric Anesi, moved to Mendoza, Argentina at age 27 in order to learn about the wine business from the ground up – literally. He started by taking ground and water samples from potential vineyard sites; picked grapes alongside other workers, who thought he was crazy for putting in such hard labour for “fun”; committed himself to speaking fluent Spanish; and, for the past several years has devoured any and all information and practical experience on growing the best grapes and making the best wine in Argentina.
15% of the wine spent 8 months in third use French and American oak barrels.
The appearance is intense with a lively deep red purple color.
Aromas of fruity notes of plum, raspberry along with floral notes of violets.
Flavours are complex and harmonious, with a soft and velvety entry, firm tannins and lovely juicy finish.
